Baldhead creates fun and funky Cabinets ... that catch the eye!
(Coast Magazine July 2001) When Eric and Bobbie Fleming had traditional pressboard cabinets installed in their garage for multiple storage needs, they were "disgusted with how well they didn't work," says Bobbie. The shelving simply wasn't durable enough. Owners of CLS Fabrication, a sheet metal fabrication company in Fountain Valley, the Flemings began to think that perhaps they could build a better garage cabinet. And, from that, Baldhead Cabinet Company was born.
The Flemings' goal was to create high-quality, high-end storage units for the garage, and make it fun, and funky - something that catches the eye.
"We picture our client to be someone who is looking for quality and versatility, who wants something really special; maybe a classic car collector," says Eric Fleming. "This is the person who wants to be proud of his garage."
All Baldhead Cabinets are made from 18-gauge steel construction with a Hammer Powdercoat finish that makes them rustproof and ultra-durable. All cabinets have European-style hinges and snap close magnets on doors; drawers in various available sizes are outfitted with precision ball-bearing slides and no-slip liners. The cabinets are modular and semi custom, meaning clients can order prefabricated sizes in whatever mix and quantity fits their needs.
But that said, Eric adds that even the modular units can be customized with special shelves added, etc. And if the clients want something outside the modular model, arrangements can most likely be made; one client asked Baldhead to make him a matching door to cover his ugly water heater.
Though all the bells and whistles of Baldhead Cabinets are geared toward serious, technical tool storage, they can be used for less traditional storage needs. One happy client had cabinets converted to lockers for his four children, so when they came home from school, they could stash backpacks and dirty shoes rather than make a mess every afternoon. The Flemings also tell stories of satisfied clients who have removed an entire system of custom pressboard cabinets from their garage, replacing them with Baldhead Metal Cabinets.
The Flemings are clearly proud of their product, as well as their commitment to service. "We try to make it a simple operation, says Eric, from his showroom in Fountain Valley. "We will fully help you in any way we can."

Homeowners today have a passion for their garage. It's no longer just a place for the garbage can and the old clunker. The craze isn't simply about cleanliness and organization, either, but creating a true haven. Our garages have evolved into showplaces for sporting equipment, tools, motorcycles, and boats and show cars. With all the money and attention we invest in these items that we collect and cherish, why not create a beautiful and special place in which to protect and display them?
Garages aren't even being classified as extensions of the home anymore. With the help of exceptional materials and the superb construction of top-of-the-line metal tool and storage cabinets, our garages are fulfilling an entirely different niche and stand in a class of their own.
With top quality comes total customization. What is ideal for you? A seven-drawer tool cabinet, complete with foam non-slip pads, that beautifully organizes all your tools close at hand? Or would you love a 82-inch storage cabinet perfect for the golf clubs? There is a narrow pullout cabinet that holds 24 small plastic bins to separate all your fasteners, hooks and nails. There is even a two-drawer unit for the pet in the house; top drawer for grooming tools and the bottom pullout drawer with a large plastic bin for the chow.
What you see here isn't comparable to other storage cabinets or garage organizers. They stand out for their durability, quality, modular design, versatility and wide variety of sizes. An even greater asset, they are backed by a full-service company who assists you with design and layout, manufacturers your custom request and professionally installs them.
Construction starts with an 18-gauge pre-coated steel, finished with a "Hammer" texture powder coat paint. All drawers are installed with a very durable precision ball-bearing slide and non-slip foam pads. For the doors, a European style hinge is used, allowing for complete adjustment of each one. Similarly, the shelves in the units are adjustable and sturdy. The solid butcher block top and light bar finish off a place you will be excited to "work" in.
Our garages are one of the largest areas in our home, where we spend much of our time (or would like to), and yet are the most overlooked when it comes to remodeling or even maintaining. By upgrading them on this level, the appearance of your home and its value is dramatically altered.
